Stony Brook's Teaching, Learning + Technology Innovations in Education Colloquium

SUNY Stony Brook will be holding a colloquium on Innovations in Education. Their Call for Paper is as follows, as taken from https://tlt.stonybrook.edu/FacultyServices/FacDev/Workshops/Pages/InnovationsinEducation.aspx:

This event is for anyone who teaches at a University (faculty, lecturers, adjuncts and Graduate TA’s) who would like to share their experiences with colleagues.

We would like to thank Dr. Larry Ragan from the World Campus at Penn State for agreeing to be our Key Note Speaker.

The Call for presenters is in progress, we are seeking faculty who have experience in the following areas:

* Research - Library resources, Grants to support teaching initiatives, Copyright
* Pedagogy - large lectures, assessment, group work, teaching skills
* Technology - Instructional Technology, Academic Administration Tools (Lotus Notes, SOLAR), Academic uses of software, Web 2.0 technologies - blogs, Second Life, wikis, etc.
* Professional Development - Presentation skills, Teaching Portfolio's
* Tenure & Promotion at Stony Brook - Policies, procedures, tips, peer review process

Birds of Feather Roundtables will be available for groups to discuss topics of mutual interest.

CUNY WordCampEd

Macaulay Honors College, the Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute
at Baruch College, and the New York City College of Technology are
pleased to host CUNY WordCampEd, a one day meeting to discuss the uses
of WordPress and WordPress MultiUser in higher education.

Friday, May 22, 2009, 10 AM - 3 PM, at Macaulay Honors College, 35 West
67 Street (between Columbus and Central Park West).

Due to space limitations, we have to limit registration to those with a
CUNY affiliation, but we welcome anyone with an interest in how these
open source tools (and their associated plugins and related software)
can be used to enhance teaching and learning. This free one-day
mini-conference (lunch
included) will provide keynotes and discussions, as well as hands-on
mini-workshops and roundtables.

Library technologies: Copyright and plagiarism---two sides of the same coin?

THE MAY 14TH WORKSHOP IS BEING RESCHEDULED FOR THE FALL. DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.

This is the second of a two-part series on teaching and learning using library resources, in collaboration with Michael Miller of the Rosenthal Library.

If you are interested in learning about how the issues of copyright and plagiarism are handled in the Queens College academic community and in participating in a provocative and progressive discussion about what plagiarism is (and isn't), please register online here.

5th Annual CUNY gen ed conference

Gen Ed: Teaching Millenial Learners
All faculty are invited to attend this year's CUNY Conference on General Education. This year's conference is hosted by Lehman College in the Bronx.
