Library technologies: Copyright and plagiarism---two sides of the same coin?

This is the second of a two-part series on teaching and learning using library resources, in collaboration with Rosenthal Library librarians Alexandra DeLuise, James Mellone and Michael Miller. Guest speakers include Madeleine Fix, creative consultant and educational technologist at Hunter College, and Barbara Moore, College Counseling and Resource Center, Division of Student Affairs at Queens College.

Participants form the first workshop in the series, please contact Melinda Miller as soon as possible confirming your availability. Check this space in early February for information on available seats.

A pre-workshop mini-assignment will also be posted here in February. In the meantime, the Sandbox is still available for posting/playing!

One-day conference at BMCC: Math across the curriculum

Mathematics across the curriculum and quantitative reasoning: Multiple collegiate models

On Friday, March 28th, the Borough of Manhattan Community College will sponsor a one-day conference on both mathematics across the curriculum (MAC) and quantitative reasoning (QR, also called "quantitative literacy"). Speakers will include Bernie Madison (University of Arkansas), Maura Mast (University of Massachusetts Boston), Bill Briggs (University of Colorado at Denver), and Rebecca Hartzler (Edmonds Community College, WA. In addition, a number of faculty from CUNY who are active in the MAC/QR movement will make presentations.

The conference, which will include lunch, will be free of charge but limited in size. All CUNY faculty, both math faculty and faculty from other disciplines interested in QR and/or MAC, are invited to attend.
