Writing Fellow resource available for W-courses
Please note: as of August 17th, the Fellows are fully booked for the fall semester. However, we may be able to connect you with a colleague who is working with a Fellow so that you can observe a workshop in his/her class on a similar topic. To help us determine this, please fill out the online registration form by clicking on the registration link below (at the bottom of the invitation) and choose the in-class workshops. We will be in touch as soon as possible with more information about whether and how we might be able to accommodate your request.

Attention Writing Intensive instructors:
CUNY Writing Fellows are available to work with you and your students. Writing Fellows—PhD students from the Graduate Center who are specially trained to teach writing—are available to help you find and develop the resources you need to address your students' needs with regard to writing.
There are two specific ways this collaboration can take place:
1. In-class workshops
A Writing Fellow can visit your course to conduct a workshop with your students on just about any element of writing or the writing process—for example, a fellow might help students devise or test thesis statements, generate ideas or research questions, develop structure, integrate sources, or work on revision or peer response.
2. Dedicated Fellow
The second option is to work with a Writing Fellow who will be integral to the course for the duration of the semester. If you're interested in this, you can request a dedicated Fellow who will work with you from the beginning of the semester, to help strategize about in-class writing activities, the sequencing of assignments, workshops in and outside class, etc. Note, however, that Writing Fellows are prevented contractually from working as readers or graders of student writing. They may read student writing in order to facilitate a workshop, or to consult with students individually, but they cannot serve as readers in the sense that a T.A. might. Nonetheless, they can be a valuable asset to a course, providing students with additional writing instruction and helping to integrate the writing and intellectual content of a course.

We encourage you to incorporate this resource in your syllabus; we can’t guarantee placement but we will confirm whether a fellow is available for your course the week of August 17th. (Because six Fellows serve the College's four Divisions, we can't always accommodate all requests, but we will make every attempt to do so.)
