CUNY funding opportunity: improving undergraduate mathematics learning
An announcement from CUNY Central's Office of Academic Affairs:
We are pleased to announce available grant funding for the years 2009-2011. Download the request for funding proposals (RFP) here. This funding opportunity aims to support and encourage CUNY faculty to undertake evidence-based research that will lead to better learning in mathematics classrooms.
Award amounts will be based on the scope and the extent of the proposal, and will range from $10,000 to $100,000 (the latter amount will be for proposals that have the potential to affect a great many students). All monies must be expended by June 30, 2011. We encourage multi-author and multi-campus collaborative studies. Principal Investigators must be full-time members of CUNY mathematics departments. Co-PIs may be part-time or full-time faculty and may come from any discipline.
Letters of intent (two-page maximum) are required as the first part of a two-step application process. This letter of intent is due August 1, 2009. Full proposals are due October 16, 2009.
Please consult the RFP for full program details, eligibility information, and application instructions. This is an exciting opportunity for everyone involved in mathematics education at CUNY to consider questions or problems that have arisen in helping students learn mathematics, devise and/or test creative solutions, and develop means to assess whether the solutions work. We are especially pleased to be offering this RFP at a time when colleges are starting to look for ways to maximize the potential of the forthcoming Quantitative Fellows Program.
Please share this information widely. As noted within the RFP, questions may be directed to Yasemin Jones , who can be reached at yasemin.jones@mail.cuny.edu, (212) 794-5514.
