Making Connections, year 2

The Center for Teaching and Learning at LaGuardia Community College has released a request for proposals for Year 2 of the Making Connections ePortfolio Mini-Grant and Seminar Program.

This FIPSE-funded endeavor brings together faculty and administrators from the New York metropolitan area to examine how ePortfolios can support teaching and learning, assessment, and student engagement. The second year program will begin in February 2009; proposals for mini-grants are due November 20, 2008.

The complete request for proposals and application template is available at http://www.lagcc.cuny.edu/ctl/mc/cohort2.htm. Queries should be directed to Susan Lambert, Making Connections coordinator (slambert@lagcc.cuny.edu, 718-482-5419).

Queens College faculty interested in producing a proposal should contact Claudia Perry or Eva Fernández.

Writing in music

The Writing in Music website for the Aaron Copland School of Music was launched early September 2008. While it was developed for the needs of music students and faculty in particular, it is valuable for students and faculty across Queens College.

This website was developed through the efforts of Writing Across the Curriculum, with the guidance of its Director, Jason Tougaw, and the leadership and talents of WAC's Arts and Humanities Caucus, whose members include David Gagné (Aaron Copland School of Music), Sue Lantz Goldhaber (English), Ken Nielsen (CUNY Writing Fellow), and Boone Gorges (CUNY Writing Fellow and Webmaster).

The Writing in Music website is one of a growing family of subject writing guides hosted on the WAC web and produced by Queens College faculty.

Grants update

The Office of Academic Affairs routinely releases a newsletter on grants and grant opportunities. The September 2008 newsletter is here.

Queries should be addressed to Michael Corrente, Grants Associate (212-794-5491, michael.corrente@mail.cuny.edu).
