Audio and video podcasting pilot project

Best practices for developing and using rich-media audio & video podcasting in teaching and learning

Calling all Queens College faculty interested in participating in a pilot project that focuses on instructional uses of audio and video podcasting. A CUNY-wide initiative aims to examine best practices. From the application:

CUNY has an opportunity to develop and evaluate best practices involving the use of academic podcasts. Determining the value of podcasts as a pedagogical tool will require the engagement of faculty led teams supported by Academic/Instructional technologists and Centers for Tech-nology and Learning across CUNY.

Apple Computer’s iTunes U audio and video file hosting service is one element among many other innovative and challenging technologies that will be made available for use in this pilot project.

The pilot project will provide faculty participants with a controlled environment in which to design and implement podcasting into their courses and to build a body of best practices, useful tech-nologies and work process that support teaching. To accomplish these objectives the project will rely on Blackboard, the collaborative tool that faculty and students use today that will link to a podcasting storage system such as iTunes U.

Deadline for college (team) applications is January 23, 2008. If you're interested, please contact the Queens College Center for Teaching and Learning as soon as possible, by emailing Eva Fernández or Melinda Miller.
