2007 CUNY Instructional/Information Technology Conference

The 6th Annual CUNY IT Conference will take place on November 30, 2007, at John Jay College. Its theme, Future Present, suggests that presentations will showcase innovations and future trends in educational technology.

Multilingual Queens: Call for contributions

Revisions 5 (2007-2008)

Communication at Queens College is carried out in multiple languages on a regular basis. Our admirable linguistic repertoire should come as no surprise, given our location in the heart of the most linguistically diverse county in the U.S. (and given our functions as an institution of higher education). This year, in our annual issue of Revisions: A Zine on Writing at Queens College (a follow-up to the 2004 issue, "Teaching Writing on a Multilingual Campus"), we seek to display the beauty and complexity of multilingual Queens, by taking a snapshot of the languages we speak, the languages we write in, the languages we learn in, the languages we read and comprehend, the languages we perhaps wish we had access to, and the languages we might sometimes wish we could forget.

We welcome contributions, in the form of shorts (about 250 words) or features (about 750–1000 words), from all members of our community: students, faculty, and staff. We particularly encourage bilingual and multilingual pieces, and pieces in languages other than English.

Gender Equity Project

The Gender Equity Project (GEP) has received an award from NSF to fund two major projects for faculty from a number of CUNY schools, including Queens College. These are:

  • A workshop series for junior faculty, open to all eligible faculty in the natural and social sciences, mathematics and statistics, or engineering. Registration is open until 25 seats are filled.
  • A grant writing assistance program for women faculty in the natural and social sciences, mathematics and statistics, or engineering, planning to submit grant applications to federal funding agencies during Fall 2008. Registration deadline is December 1, 2007.

Making Connections: ePortfolios, Integrative Learning & Assessment
