Approving comments

When someone posts a comment to your blog, you will automatically receive an email telling you that a comment is waiting for your approval. (This approval process prevents "comment spam": comments left by machines with malicious or mercenary motives.) Clicking on the link in this email may or may not work (it's a little bit buggy). When you get an email like this, the best thing to do is log into your blog account in the usual way: http://mtblogs.qc.cuny.edu/mt.cgi.

On the main menu of your blog's administration page, you'll see a list of your entries as well as a list of comments. A green checkmark means that the post/comment is published; a yellow triangle means it's awaiting your approval. Click on the comment with a yellow triangle next to it.

On the next screen, you'll see the comment that's pending your approval, along with information about who posted it. In order to approve this comment for publishing, change the "Status" box, at the top of the right-hand column, from "Unpublished" to "Published". Click the "Save Changes" button underneath the comment to save and continue.

A message will appear indicating that your changes have been saved. Rebuild your site to have the changes appear on your blog.

Next time you view your blog, you'll notice that the comment count on your entry will have increased (you might have to hit "Reload" or "Refresh" on your browser to make this happen). Click through to see the newly posted comment.
