We're in a big bus, me, a few people I know and some strangers, too. At the front of the bus, a fortune teller (who looks just like an ordinary person: no turban, no jewelry) is giving each passenger readings. She's telling the fortune of an aquaintance of mine (let's call him Pete). She warns Pete about his wife and he's pretty concerned about the whole thing.
I'm not paying too much attention to the details, because I'm waiting for my turn. I'm excited to hear what this psychic will say about my future (I've never been to a psychic, but I'm not a skeptic, either). I'm also a bit apprehensive: she's doing readings in front of everyone and I don't know if I want anyone else to hear what she might reveal about me. In addition, I'm worried that she might tell me that my future is bleak and loserish.
Luckily/unluckily for me, I never get my fortune told. Pete has returned from wherever it was that he went after the psychic predicted his future. He's holding a book (it kind of looks like a Bible: it's big and has very thin pages) and is very angry. He points out to us a passage from the book: apparently, it was exactly what the psychic told him about his wife. She stole it from a book! Pete starts yelling about how the fortune teller's just a fraud. This makes me mad. Not at the psychic, but at Pete. Now I'm never going to know if I'm going to be happy in the future! I didn't want to believe what Pete was telling me, even though it was plain, easy to see.
We're out of the vehicle now. Pete tells me that while he was gone, he bought a cigar, which he shows me. It's a normal looking cigar, except it has the Yankees logo on it. Pete is livid again! He specifically bought it to smoke when the Yankees win the World Series. Unfortunately, it seems like they've already won!”Now when am I going to smoke it?” he whines. It's useless. He offers it to me for $1, which seems like a fair price to me. I don't smoke, never have, never will, but I can't pass up a deal. I haven't decided whether I will smoke it (cigars are trendy these days), or just save it as a momento.
