A little bit gay

I haven't been remembering my dreams for the past few weeks and I'm not sure why. The last one that I remember had to do with a a big party. There were a bunch of socialites hearded together in a big hall. I think Nicole Richie was there.

I remember a lot of really fancy dresses; they really gaudy and covered with pink and purple sequins. I'm not sure what I was doing there but while I was at a table one of the socialite mothers came screaming at me. At that point I was both myself and Rosie O'Donnell. Im not sure what she said but I "said" something about it being possible to be a little bit gay. That's all i remember about the images I created though I do recall the feeling of animosity and discomfort.

Since my classes start later this semester I've been home to watch The View in the mornings. Rosie is the new co-host and I really get a kick out of seeing her being so outspoken and making Barbra and the other hosts uncomfortable. I guess in the days preceding the dream I had seen an episode when Rosie was talking about homosexuality. They were debating the idea that you can be inherently bisexual. As Rosie and I were condensed into one person, my dream may be allowing me to express the emotions I wold perhaps feel uncomfortable expressing in real life through a public figure in a safe place. My dream may also betelling me that i've been watching too much daytime TV. That may also be a possibility.

Lily Briscoe:

Many people stereotype lesbians as being butch and manly--not ones to be sporting "girly" colors like pink and purple. Maybe the reason you aligned yourself with Rosie is that she, too, might have felt uncomfortable in this party setting. (or maybe not, I really don't know)
Maybe you were condensed with Rosie because you look up to her as someone who can hold her own. When the socialite starts screaming at you and making you feel like you don't belong there, you summon your strength and find that, with Rosie's help, you can strike back. So next time someone is mean to you, channel O'Donnel.

Or maybe you really are watching too much daytime tv.

I've been having trouble remembering too. Don't know why. Great dream though, and healthy i think. I'm curious to know your opinion of the "socialite" world. Were the feelings of animosity directed toward them in the dream, or toward you. As far as the "everyone's a little bit gay" thing, a friend of mine said to me at dinner once, "well, everyone's a little bit straight" after his partner caught him obviously looking at a woman's breasts. It's funny how perspective determines so many things.

True Romance:

You not remembering your dreams could have the reverse effect on you, where as you are striving to continue to remember your dreams more vividly by writing them down, they might be getting blurred. I think it'll pass though as you probably continue to do more of it and then your mind will get more clear.

The thing with the View - I think it's because you've become accustomed to this new regime that Rosie is entering your dreams. I think the real life - especially that episode - entered your dreams. I think there might be a reason that particular episode entered your dream, but it could be another detail - that maybe didn't strike you as important - that made you dream about it.

The fact that you are dreaming about Rosie in the View though probably does say that you are watching too much tv =)

John A. Dreams:

Maybe you are watching too much TV, I dunno, I'm no doctor. However, the intrusion of popular culture has happened to me twice before (that I can remember). Earlier in the semester I posted a dream where characters from M*A*S*H came into my dream, and, recently, Zack and Slater from Saved By The Bell. Reflecting back on it, both times might have occured because the scenarios in the dreams where similiar to those from the TV shows.

Hell, maybe we do watch too much TV. =)

Optimus2g:

Pop Culture defintely has an affect on us in our dreams. I've entered and exited dream states many a time with related subjects occupying my mind. It seems that you may have been left wondering about the discussion that you witnessed on that show, and this was manifested in your dream. Whenever I've been left wondering about something, my experience is that it popped up in my dreams. Our unconscious mind, during our dreams, it seems to me, is always seeking to gain meaning when we are pondering over something that our conscious mind has experienced during waking life. I find that the less TV I watch the less it has intruded on my own dreams...reason being that I dont have any time..:-( (which actually may be good!)
