Kylie Dreams

Recently my dog, Kylie, was run over by a speeding van in front of my house. About two weeks later, me and two others had dreams, on the same night, of Kylie.

Just like cutting class....

I was a pretty bad student in high school...Actually in February of my senior year my mom was called into the school for a meeting- I had missed 287 classes so far that year, and I WAS NOT going to graduate...the problem with that was that you can't keep someone if she knows all she is supposed to know...and I always showed up for/passed the tests in class.
But how did my addiction to cutting class get so out of control???

the neighbor boy

I found out last night that my neighbor, whom I have had a crush on since the 4th grade died suddenly of a heart attack. It was pretty late when I found out, and after an hour or so of silent shock I went to sleep and dealt with the situation there.

Boone's Visit

boone%20tutorial.jpg

I was a little aprehensive about the Web Project since my background in web design or anything like that is very lacking. I was really nervous that it was going to be extremely time consuming to come up with something that looks like a data screen from 1984.
The in class tutorial from Boone Gorges helped with not only the Web project, but my general understanding of what goes into creating a webpage. I learned so many simple things that I have used outside of the web project, like the code for line breaks:
see thats a line break!!
After getting aquainted with the techniques that I learned in class it became kind of fun to screw around with the color scheme and fonts. I also thought it was really cool of him to create a page for us to keep going back to in case we forgot what he said during the in class tutorial.

Trauma Dreams

I was hanging out with my upstairs neighbors when the topic of traumatic dreams came up. It was kind of weird because I ended up giving a kind of quick lecture on Hartmann's theory.

The problem that my neighbors are having is with their 11 year old Black Lab. Three years ago they had the Lab, a Pug, and a Rottweiler (which is what I ended up getting last week, only 10 weeks old). Anyway, the three dogs were left together for the day, and when my neighbor got home from work the house was torn apart and a bloody mess... turns out the Rottweiler killed the pug. The Rotti sat in the corner of the hallway for the next 24 hours (until he was euthanised) growling at everyone, showing his teeth. And the Lab sat in another corner of the house shaking...and his shaking lasted for almost a week. I would call this a pretty traumatic experience for a dog, he did witness murder.
The Aftermath is that the dog now suffers with sleep disorders. He has violent dreams where he is shaking and growling as loud as though he were awake, and if woken up fromn one of these dreams he is immediately ready to attack. It seems almost like dealing with a sleep walker. He also goes into a state of insomnia if there is a fight within the household. If any voices are raised the dog can't sleep for days. Actually the night that my dog was run over and killed their dog got so freaked out (I guess the whole thing was pretty loud), he sat up all night pacing the house and panting.

What do you do with such a dog? Too bad there isn't dog therapy (ha!). Perhaps they should get another dog to try and divert his emotions, he was really close with the dog that was killed, so maybe he just needs another friend.
