I just had to share this on the blogs today. I experienced this sensation today while student teaching today at Francis Lewis HS. I was standing at the front of the classroom, at the very beginning of class, and some of the students had crowded around me to see their grades in my gradebook. At that very moment, I felt this EERY sense of deja vu. I had a dream where I imagined this exact scenario, and I didn't recall it until that moment. It felt COMPLETELY SURREAL. I wanted to just sit down and let it sink in for a second, but a class of ninth graders at 9 am won't exactly stand for that---by the way they are a GREAT class; I'm very lucky in that regard--no degenerates among them, well at least those who are don't show up! lol. Has anyone else experienced this before? I'm actually wrapping back around to the beginning of the blogs, when I wrote about this exact scenario in August. How appropriate! Discuss....hmmmnnn.....("Fascinating...", to quote Mr. Spock!)

I've never experienced deja vu like that, after having dreamt the exact same scenario. My deja vu experiences come with certain sequences of events or words...
I think it's really cool that it happened the way you dreamed it would, and that you remembered it just then. Guess our dreams stick around longer than we thought.
Also, it's great you had a good class. Hope my class in the small is as good.

Yes, I think that I have experienced this before... or at least my friend has about me. If you read my entry "Prophetic Dream?", you'll see what I'm talking about. Would you call this dream that you had prophetic in anyway? Or are prophetic dreams supposed to be more dramatic than this? I'm not sure. What do you think?

Deja vu. I've experienced that, and not that long ago. It really is a strange feeling. But does that really qualify as a prophetic dream? I agree with Lady Hira, seems like it should be not only more dramatic, but more likely to remember it before it actually happens.

I experience deja vu all the time. I experience deja vu all the time. You too? Ha! No seriously I do, especially when I'm writing my blogs down for some reason. I always feel like I've said or read the things I'm saying in them before, and I don't know why. Maybe I have! My brain is funny like that, because I have a bad memory (probably from the enourmous amount of drinking I did in my wilder days--I mean further back than last week!). I'm sure this is not your problem, but I just thought I'd share!

haha.. who would think that a teacher would experience deja vu when giving out grades to a class ;)
jk.. i have weird experiences like that all the time. I wonder what it means? Did anyone ever find out? MAYBE, its like Hartman says about trying out different scenarios in your mind and having you cope with situations in a safe place before you do it in waking life! ahh what a genius i am... lol
mr.mx--------,
did you just tell optimus to bring a "hooch"???
that is so not feminist jurisprudential of you..

Deja Vu happens more when you are involved in activities that follow a routine (teaching for example). It's such a strange phenomenon, It would have been interesting for someone to do relevant research to it along with dreams.

I always have deja vu, but it only lasts for a split second. I'm always doing something or in a situation, and I inadvertently pause, and this is what happens:
I'm like, wait, did this happen before? then,
Or I had a dream about this? When was it... then,
nothing! It's gone, lol.
I don't think it is a drinking problem hahaha mr. mx...
anyway, yea I've had deja vu before =)
