I'm just waking up now to write this, because recently I've had dreams that I could recall upon waking, only to have them escape my memory only a few moments later. I woke up several times this past night after having repeatedly been "shocked" by driving on the L.I.E., and crashing into the car that I'm trailing. This happened several times last night and I had a hard time distinguishing if it was real or not, because it certainly felt as if it was happening. I hope this isn't a premonition, since I'm on the L.I.E. for an extenisve period of time, 4 days a week. I felt a sense of helplessness as this was happening, almost like those "Final Destination" movies. I woke up multiple times last night, just as I was about to crash into the car ahead of me. I'm not sure what this dream stems from: I'm guessing that maybe it's the stress setting in from Finals week, which started for me yesterday. Whenver I'm preoccupied with stressful thoughts, my mind tends to "vent", and as a result, dreams like this occur. Could this be Jungian? Whatever the case may be, I did not have fun last night. This is the last thing I need to be experiencing before I get onto the L.I.E. again in a few short hours!
P.S. I felt like the screamer in Edvard Munch's "The Scream"

Wow, this felt eerie just reading it. You've had a car crash dream before, but I don't think you were involved in it. I'm not sure what this means...and no you shouldn't let it get to you. Maybe your dream is trying to scare you into being more careful on the highway. It's interesting that you kept waking up, first of all, and that you kept waking up right when you were going to crash into the car in front of you. Also, were you going fast in the dream? You write "High-Speed" in the title, but don't mention it at all in the blog. Maybe everything is moving too fast for you and you feel like you are crashing. Either way...slow down and be careful! =)

You know what's funny? Those who know me say I drive like an old lady, 'cuz I never speed. This was just some straight up weird stuff. I was in an accident before though. I was driving on Horace Harding (Eastbound Service road by Exit 22, right before Main Street). My car's axel collapsed--while I was driving. If it wasn't for the fence railing, I would have been in serious condition or be dead now. Imagine if that happened on the highway, going at least 55 miles an hour? I still get flashbacks because of that damn experience.

Like True Romance, I'm also remembering another car crash dream from you before. I know you mention that you previously were in an accident, but do you generally consider yourself a nervous driver? If so, maybe whenever you feel stress, some part of you immediately starts to equate it with driving.

you might be right there about the driving and the stress, Vitamin C. I am paranoid to a certain extent, even though it--my memories of the accident I could have died in--doesn't stop me from driving, because I have no choice.

Whatever the origin, the dream sounds terrifying, particularly because you keep having it again and again. It must make the prospect of sleep unnerving. I'm curious to know whether you still had the dream after you woke up to write about it (at 6:33 am!).

Fortunately I didn't experience this dream again after I woke up to write about it. I just woke up multiple times right before it though. It wasn't any fun either. I hope that no one else experiences this.
