(Blog #20) Dream: Daydreaming about a traffic accident...

I had one of those "space-out" moments while at work, this past Saturday afternoon. I put my head back to relax for a couple of minutes after things settled down in the office I work in. I work part-time as a dispatcher---often-times solitarily---which is why I could afford to lean back and rest for a few minutes. I closed my eyes and drifted off for a few moments. What I saw was actually pretty interesting: I imagined driving home on the Highway (Sunrise Highway in Long Island) and saw a car with 3 cheerleaders in it that got hit from the backside, by a car that was merging off of the highway and onto the service road. I saw a pile-up of 3 or 4 vehicles after that, with myself being close by in my own car. I immediately opened my eyes and recalled this, right after I imagined seeing this scene in my head. I guess it could be related to my own fears of idiotic drivers and the fact that I was going to get ready to drive home on that very stretch of raod, on my home from work. It also may be my fear of crazy things happening this time of year because of the approaching holiday season. Or am I just paranoid? I'm still trying to figure this one out...

english teacher:

I think this is pretty interesting. Often in day dreams, we drift to a familiar place, or a familiar moment or desire. It is weird that you picked a scene that is unrelated directly to you OR your momentary experiences. Have you been involved in an accident? I would also like to know what your experience with cheerleaders is/was like.

True Romance:

Yeah what significance do the cheerleaders have...? No, but this must have been very scary for you especially right before getting ready to actually drive home on that same road. I don't think you're paranoid, but it could be something more than the idiotic drivers. Do you have another fear of something lately? Or, while driving, have you had a near miss situation which freaked you out a bit? This is interesting because you were actually daydreaming and not actually dreaming.

John A. Dreams:

Yes, were these incredibly attractive cheerleaders with large breasts? Because, if so, I've been invading my thoughts as well. We should track down these voodoo vixens and interogate their motives, over a few dozen drinks.

In keeping with my dirty theme here, have you pondered the Freudian significance of cheerleaders being rear-ended? I bring this up because this is not a regular "routine" dream but a dream with a specific metaphor of the archetypal cheerleaders. Are you secretly wishing to join the multi-car pileup?

vitaminc:

I'm curious if all daydreams are about wish-fulfillment? Fantasies? Sub-conscious planning? I'm not sure if I'm remembering this correctly, but did you discuss in one of your earlier blogs that you were going through some emotions concerning your ex-fiance? Maybe your daydream is telling you that some part of you wants to go out there and meet new women?
