Reflection on practice exam

Well, practice exam #1 down, with 1 to go before the BIG ONE. Although I was anxious about the test, taking it was helpful. It allowed us to see what type of quotes will be on the exam. It also exposes the holes in my knowledge which I will hopefully be able to shore up quickly with the help of the study guides, lots o' coffee, my fellow classmates and PT.

It was interesting to see where I guessed and how close or far off the mark I was. It's also good to see that you can compensate for not knowing the exact author by pinning down hallmarks of the period, or the formal elements of the piece.

So troops, it's onward and upward! Happy studying!

AK:

The sample exam really was helpful though it depressed me by letting me know how many holes in my knowledge I do have. Kinda wish the exam was over with already, but then the conference is waiting...

Happy studying to you too!

Mr Thompson:

Everyone has holes in his/her knowledge. You sure ain't the only one. Try taking the GRE Literature Test, which is an extreme form of the honors exam. I'm just kidding; don't take this. Don't be down about not identifying certain passages. You have to remember one thing: literature is a vast and endless field, not to mention vague, and, no matter how much you love, some shit just isn't good, and so you don't memorize it.
