that according to today's New York Times says that "the film takes place in a zone where dreams, wishes and fears mingle with, and at times obliterate, the literal facts of everyday existence." Opening at the Angelika I believe. Thought it might be interesting . . .

I agree! The director is Michel Gondry, the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He's an amazing director and the film seems to be getting great reviews. You can see the NY Times video review here:

Maybe a class field trip to the movies? (I hear Idlewild, the Outkast movie musical, has dreams in it too...)

I was just about to make a post about that movie... I read a review in the Village Voice and it sounded so interesting but not exactly how the title implies. it seems to focus more on the absurb and surreal than actual dreaming... but then again what are dreams if not surreal and absurd?
*I'm excited to see it.

I'm down with a class field trip to the movies, if it can be arranged. If possible we could go in groups on the weekend, if people can get out of work. Michel Gondry is the PERFECT director for this type of film, considering his creative & surrealistic film-making style. I own "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" because when I saw that film it directly appealed to em at that point on my life (actually it still does!). After viewing the video it looks like a must see. We should mention this in class!

Yea, I also saw a commercial for this and totally thought of you guys. I think we should see it, all together if possible. But if we must see it in groups I'll take all the girls with me. =)
