Blog 30: The Closing of the Blogs

As many have expressed similar sentiments, the blogs, especially the dream writing has been quite therapeutic for me as well as for others in the class. The commentary of others was also helpful, but just writing down my thoughts--- my dreams was the best part. This allowed me to express myself not just consciously, but unconsciously. This was no regular journal, but a journal that sometimes expressed my inner frustrations and wishes...one that allowed me to voice the unvoiced of my dreams. I think it is wonderful how with our comments, we are unsure of what to say at first and are, for some, new to this process, but as we went along in the semester and eventually the year, we learned a lot and were able to comment with new insights and with a lot more theory under our belts. It was really nice reading some of the entries of other people in the class. Many were very interesting, but I just wish that I had time to read all of them. Perhaps I'll have more time to do so after the semester ends. It's also really great that we will still have access to the blogs... but I wonder for how long? I really enjoyed reading, analyzing, and commenting on other people's blogs. And I'm sure that many share the same sentiments as I do.

I wish you all much luck bloggers, and I hope you guys continue to post up some dreams. I will surely try to do so myself. We have now officially graduated from the Movable Type Enterprise blogs. We are MTE class of 2007 (and for some of us QC class of 2007 as well! =)

Blog 29: An Overdose on Pizza?

My friend once had a dream that she ordered pizza and that she ate the whole pie. She then ordered another pie and ate the whole thing once more. After that she ordered more pizzas and kept on eating and eating them. She said it tasted so good in her dream that she couldn't stop. In real life, she cannot even eat two pizzas, so how would she be able to eat more than five pies of it? Dreams just seem so unrealistic sometimes... My friend told me though that when she woke up after having this dream, she had this sudden urge to vomit. Was it because she overdosed on pizza in her dream? Or was her stomach just unsettled from the night before? It's very odd, but very interesting. What do you all think about this?

Blog 28: I See Naked People

I had a dream once where everyone was naked in it. People looked very comfortable in chairs, and it looked like a lounge area. The only odd thing about the dream was that people were naked. But in the dream, I felt that it was a normal thing. The funny thing was although people were naked, they were still wearing accessories such as ties, necklaces, bracelets, shoes, etc. I mean, what was the point of that? I am happy though that these weren't any people that I knew. Then, that would have been really odd. The people looked like middle-to-upper class suburban people. I think I might have been one of them as well in the dream. That's all I really remember from the dream. What's the deal with the naked people though? Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Blog 27: Reflection on Upcoming Conference

The conference is already finished, but I have to say that I was quite nervous about it. I mean I have done presentations before, but I get somewhat nervous when people ask me questions about my research. I know it's pretty odd, but sometimes I don't know how to answer the questions. I suppose this is good practice though for the future, if I ever have presentations where people badger me with questions. Although nobody asked me any questions at this conference, maybe at another conference (if I'm in one), they will. It's just good practice for it.

Also, what really sucked was that right before the presentation, I wasn't feeling well. When I was coming on the bus to come to the Cambell Dome, my stomach was hurting a lot, so much so, that I had to get off of the bus and go to the nearest restroom. I felt like I had to vomit. However, nothing came out. I was still feeling ill, but I knew I had to get to the presentation soon because it was almost time for the show to start. So, I waited for the next bus and called my friend and asked her what I should do to make my stomach feel better. She told me to drink some green tea. So, when I came off the bus, I went to the Student Union and bought some green herbal tea. It was a smart idea, because it really helped me and I felt much better. Lord knows it would have been very embarassing if I had thrown-up last night's dinner right up on stage. Good thing I had drank that tea! But I don't know why I was feeling that way... because I've never gotten like that before I had a presentation, ever. I think that I was just feeling ill, and it turns out that illness hasn't gone away. My stomach has still been hurting ever since then. I suppose it's about time I go to a doctor. But besides this, the conference wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The presentations by my classmates were really good. I'm just happy that we did it, and that we are done with it. Yay! =)

Blog 26: Flying to India

My friend had a dream that she flew over to India, and went to spend some of her time in a resort. She also remembers seeing her uncle there, and then they started to play on the beach. This was basically the dream. She tells me that she cannot remember much else from the dream. She told me that she thinks she had this dream because she is supposed to be going to India sometime in August to do some volunteer work. She has never been to India and is not Indian herself, so she told me that it was kind of odd that she had a dream of being in India. But perhaps it's not so odd since she will be going there sometime in the near future.

Blog 25: Reflection on Course Web Project

I am happy that the course web project is finished, but I just wish that I was able to do a better job with it. I think that I rushed through it, and didn't do as good of a job as I thought that I could have. As I mentioned in my earlier blog on the web project, I really enjoyed this project. It's helped me to refresh my skills with posting codes, and other html stuff on to sites. In my Intro to computer science class in freshman year here at Queens College, I had to create a mini- website and post things about myself on it. Doing this project has helped to refresh my memory. Well, I hope that others in the class enjoyed the project as well.

Blog 24: From Nightmare to Good Dream...

Since I haven't had too many dreams lately, I'll post one that my friend has had. One time my friend had a dream when she was younger that she saw a monster in the playground of her elementary school, and he was about to eat a mouse. She was very afraid. But then somehow she tells me that the dream switched to a fairytale-esque one in which Kennen from "Kennen and Kell" was there, and he made her laugh. After this, she wasn't scared anymore. What do you know? The nightmare turned out to be good in the end... I suppose her psyche had some way of making her feel a lot better. I wonder how that happens, and if anyone else has experienced this?

Blog 23: The Secret Garden

24m.jpg

When I think of dreams that have been in film, it's hard for me to think of any. However, there is one book that was later turned into a film and a musical called The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett which depicts dreams. Growing up, this was my favorite book, but now after picking it up again, I hadn't realized that there were so many references to dreams in it. There are all sorts of allusions to dreams, whether it be nightmares, regular dreams, prophetic dreams (?), and others. It's a great book, so if you want something to read after the semester is over and if you're not too tired after all of the stress that finals have brought you read The Secret Garden . I guarantee you that you will like it. I believe that it was meant for younger audience such as children and young adults, but so is Harry Potter and that doesn't stop adults from reading it! But if you don't like this book, don't blame me! To find out more information about the book/film, here is a link that you can look at:

Blog 22: Heavenly Dreams

I remember having this beautiful dream that I was on a small mountain, and when I looked down the mountain I saw green grass and a lot of vegetation. I was with my family, and we started climbing down the mountain. We came to a part of the mountain that was flat land, and there was a lot of green grass as well as trees with pretty flowers and fruits which was complemented by a nice sunny blue sky. There were even goats that were roaming around on the land. I came up to one and touched it. I was so happy that it didn't run away. Then many other goats gathered around us and looked as if they were smiling at us. So then we walked to the other side of the mountain as the goats walked along with us. I cannot describe how perfect this was! If I were to describe heaven, this would be my depiction of it. Everything was happy, pretty, and peaceful. I wonder though if a place like this exists. It seems that only in dreams they do. But that's okay because I wouldn't know what to do in a place that was too perfect. It has its pros, but it might have some cons too... you never know.

Blog 21: Writers Unblock

On monday, I had a dream that I was writing on a piece of paper something constantly but I didn't know what it said. I don't know what I was writing, but I just kept on writing non-stop. After writing for a bit, I would stop and highlight some words with my highlighter, then I would continue writing and writing and wouldn't stop even though my hand felt sore. I must have written 20 pages by hand without stopping before I notice that my hand was starting to bleed. I had this dream after I had finished a paper which had took my some time to write since I was having "writers block". Yet, even with out "writers block", I would have never been able to write a 20 page paper on one sitting. I'm not even sure if I can write a five page paper on one sitting. I wonder what this dream was trying to tell me. Anybody have any clues?
